4th place...and oddly ok with it

So, I competed in the Run For the Water 10-miler yesterday.

Through the hills of Austin we raced...and raced...and raced...then we hit mile 5 and got to the big hills. haha, it was a long race.

Newbie (to Austin) Keith Pierce ran away from the pack of Darren Brown, Kyle Miller, Derick Williamson and myself at the half mile. We had no idea who he was and expected him to come back to us...he didn't.

Derick went after him at mile 2 and I went with him. After chasing for a while, Derick fell off pace and I went at it alone until Darren and Kyle rolled up on me. After just hanging on through the toughest part of the course, Darren and I pulled away from Kyle, and shortly after than, Darren pulled away from me.

That's how the race basically went until Kyle Miller passed me back with about 600m to go and I had nothing left to come back with.

This is how it ended:

  • Keith Pierce 00:51:33 (Cedar Park TX 10 Miler M 25-29)
  • Darren Brown 00:52:16 (Austin TEXAS 10 Miler M 20-24)
  • Kyle Miller 00:53:02 (Austin TX 10 Miler M 20-24)
  • Derek Yorek 00:53:11 (Sunset Valley TX 10 Miler M 25-29)
  • Derick Williamson 00:54:57 (Austin TX 10 Miler M 25-29)
  • Adam Perkins 00:54:58 (Austin TX 10 Miler M 25-29)

  • I don't know why it shows me as "Sunset Valley, TX" I don't know where that is. Also, Derick Williamson and Adam Perkins were sent the wrong way with about a mile to go, so take off about 30 sec. to get a more accurate time for them.

    Well, that's all for now!

    hasta later!
